CELEBRATES
WORLD KINDNESS DAY
FRIDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2009
Fantastic to think that another year has rolled around and STILL we are hearing more and more kindness stories from all over the world!!
Here in Scotland on World Kindness Day we are having our KIND KIDS AWARDS presentation by our Lady Provost of the City of Edinburgh to 28 children from 10 schools who have been nominated by their schools for their kindness to others.
In addition, another 5 schools – some in other parts of Scotland – have nominated many more children for group projects and as they cannot join us in Edinburgh for the fun on the day, arrangements are in place to present their awards later in the month at their school assemblies.
The children’s ‘kindnesses’ range from helping their fellow pupils in school or at playtime if they are unhappy or finding it difficult to cope if they are new to the school, kindness to family members who perhaps are ill or need special attention and care, and kindness to the environment by working to achieve the Green Flag environment award for their school.
A number of schools are involved in fundraising to give assistance to specific schools abroad by filling backpacks with paper, pencils and other items to help children in a third world country who have no access to such things.
The excitement grows ahead of World Kindness Day. Please visit our website again AFTER Friday to see reports of what happened, who was there and pictures of our fun celebration.
